Psalms 1 and 2 are strategically placed as the beginning of the Psalter, directing the people of God to pursue the path of righteousness and submission to God’s sovereign rule. Psalm 2 emphasizes the latter theme of submission to God and His anointed One. Those who refuse to bow to the Lord will be vanquished but those who obey and serve the Lord will be blessed.
